Dangerous Secret Society and some kids determined to figure out the truth!
The plot in Circle of Silence was thrilling and mysterious, greatly created and easy to get sucked in very fast. There is this Secret Society and what first starts with simply pranks, soon those pranks turn into something a little more sinister. Valerie, part of the school’s Campus News is determined to figure out who is behind this!While the story mainly is told in first person from Val’s POV, there are always small part thrown in the voice of the Leader of the secret society. So we get glimpses into the weird and sick mind of this mysterious person! This added a great level of mystery and suspense which I welcomed very much!Valerie - fearless smart and focused heroine!
One of the first things that came to my mind while reading was that I genuinely loved Valerie’s voice and her character! She was determined she knows exactly what she wants and she goes and get it instead of just dreaming about is like other kids her age! Valerie wants to be a Journalist and she’s driven, smart and focused! I actually admired her, although she sometimes went a little overboard. Valerie was great heroine!!!!Terrific Cast of Characters and even a little cute Romance!
But, I did not only love Valerie - the other kids part of Valerie’s Team are just as awesome! We have the best friend, who supports Val wherever she can! Also worth to mention is Jagger - Val’s Ex who suddenly joins the Campus Team. Val is truly annoyed since everyone seems to like him and she’s still not over their break up. Their relationship was adorable - with Valerie still heartbroken and we try to find out together why Jagger suddenly reaches out to her again… Being a big fan of romance I was happy the story got a little romance.The only complain was that a few revelations were a little too predictable. I saw the last big twist and also Val’s and Jagger problems were easy to see. Still, I totally enjoyed this book and was turning pages very fast!Bewitched Rating
Bottom Line
Circle of Silence shines with a smart, driven and genuinely awesome heroine! The mystery was thrilling, frightening and keep the reader on edge while waiting for the final show down! Readers who love a strong heroine and enjoy a good mystery will like this book!

Carol M. Tanzman published her Debut dancergirl last year and Circle of Silence plays at the same school. But, each books can be read as a Standalone! Personally, I think Circle of Silence was even stronger than dancergirl!

You love kick ass heroines!! Then meet Celaena
Celaena is an assassin who lost her parents at the age of 8 and was trained to be the world most famous assassin. But, she’s much more than a cruel killer. Celaena is beautiful, smart , she loves to read and plays music - even more, despite what her upbringing would suggest she loves to be a woman. She knows she’s beautiful and is not playing the ugly duck, nor does she needs a man to tell her so. I loved everything about Celaena - she was kick ass strong, yet there is a vulnerable side on her. In the end, she’s still a girl although the most feared assassin ever seen. She loves to wear beautiful gowns and loves the looks she get from the men surrounding her. Sarah J. Maas did an outstanding job creating this perfect to goodness heroine!Fantastic World Building - enough to tease and not too much to be overbearing..
The world building was another aspect that made this story simply perfect! I loved the descriptions of the world and it was easy to imagine this fantastic world before our eyes. The world is ruled by a cruel king who banished all magic out of the world and conquered every continent and land out there. He’s vicious and not above killing everything that stands in his way. There is a hind of magic coming along, which makes me even more excited to see what is yet to learn about this world!Let’s talk about the boys! Oh the boys!
There is the Prince Dorian - and despite what you would expect with a cruel father like his, he’s amazingly awesome! Smart and wonderful he clearly has a heart and a soul. It’s easy to fall in love with him. Very easy! Choal - the Captain of the Guard is a another player for Celaena’s heart, yet he’s a brooding character not easy to fall for - but he makes Celaena stronger. I loved him just as much! It will be hard to decide on a team just yet, which is a unique situation since I’m very easy to pick teams!Action, Fights, Mystery and Romance!
The plot was absolutely great, I loved the combination of fight, action and the mystery behind the murders. But even more, there lingers the promise of magic and it’s on Celaena to discover if there is really and truly still magic in the world and if the Fae truly disappeared completely! This promise of more, of magic and Fae made the story even more perfect - it was not yet overly pronounced but we are certain that there is more to come, more to discover and more secrets to be revealed! And I am excited to follow this path together with Celaena!Bewitched Rating
Bottom Line
This was epic fantasy - thrilling, gripping and beautiful. With mysteries to be discovered and a promise of more epicness to come! I loved every second I spend with Celaena and I can’t wait to step back into her live and follow whatever journey lays ahead of her !I’m amazed and In love!

There is a set of eNovella’s availabe which all play before the happening in Throne of Glass. In total there are 4 short stories which lead to Throne of Glass. The minute I finished Throne of Glass I got those Novella’s. I wanted to know more about this girl and her past, and upbringing! Those stories are perfect for just this! However, I have to say that the Caelena we meet in these Novella’s is slightly different. I little more spoiled and careless. But her development to the woman we meet in Throne of Glass totally made sense to me!
The first 3 are out already and the last one is going to be released in July they say… there is no date available yet.

Discussed! by Danny - Monetize a blog
Happy Saturday! Topics for these discussion posts come to me out of the blue.Today I would like to talk about a slightly controversial topic! So be prepared!
I want to talk about monetizing your blog.
Before I go on, please let’s be respectful towards each other.Â
When I started blogging I refused to think about monetizing the blog. If this discussion would have been 2 years before, I would have had a strong argument against having ads on my blog, or having affiliate programs. But, I am now in a different place. The Bookworms grew and I especially grew with this blog, I became more invested not only in the content of the blog, but I spend also a ridiculous amount of time with design and prettiness of the posts and the blog itself!
The change to WordPress was the beginning. I wanted a more professional way of blogging, I wanted to be able to be more individual. But of course, with WordPress comes hosting…
Then, there are giveaways! I guess you know that we have a fair number of giveaways running on the blog! Some are sponsored by publishers or authors for which I am super grateful, but there are also lots of giveaways we sponsor ourselves. And, that we get a book for free from a publisher doesn’t mean it’s free to ship it out. Needless to say, Pushy spends tons of money on shipping costs.
Don’t get me wrong!
This is not a whining post about how much money I spend for a hobby I love. Nope, no whining - just the truth and honestly? I happily & gladly spend every cent that goes into the Bookworms. Needless to say, it’s my very own decision how much to put into blogging.
However, wouldn’t it be nice to get tiny amount back? And I say: yes it would be nice! I don’t expect to actually earn money, it would be just nice to get a few cents back from what I put into this blog.. In the end, every cent would go back into the blog, or in giveaways. So, this is when I decided it’s time to look into monetizing options.
And… This Danny girl here is picky!
- Advertisement needs to be Book specific! Yep, I do not want to have random Google ads sitting on my sidebar. I know that this works for other sites, but not for me. I want all advertisement to have something to do with Books! In the end, The Bewitched Bookworms are a Book Blog for a reason right?
- Adds need to look good! I am a design nerd, I happily admit, that this was something very important to me.
- I want to decide exactly what is advertised on my sidebar!

So, here is what I ended up deciding and which program I ended up joining!
amazon Affiliates:
I buy nearly all of my books on amazon and I linked to them before. So it was an easy decision to join this program. Plus they have this cute carousel widget which I love looking at. :-)Does it work for me?
Yes, because it’s easy to use and I love the style! Do I get real value out of it? Nope. Last month I “made” $0.43. I know, I was also pretty amazed by this awful lot of money…  ;)
Audible Affiliates:
I looooove audible! I have a platinum membership and I still need more credits. Audible is my one and only source of audiobooks. Plus, I love to share awesome audiobooks which is why I love to do audio giveaways! I was happy when audible introduced the gift option. Woot!Does it work for me?
Yes and No. Yes, because they have cute Buttons and great deals for new memberships so I have this Button on my sidebar. No, because liking back to a particular audiobook in a review is too much afford, so I don’t do it!
Book Depository:
Whenever we do a book giveaway we end up buying it from The Book Depository. Also, since they ship worldwide we can make those giveaways international. Since we use them for giveaways on the blog, I decided to join their programDoes it work for me?
No idea, I just joined the program a week ago. But, the Buttons look nice and the linking part is easy! So I have a good feeling!
Blog Ads:
They contacted me a few month ago to see if I’d like to join and after reflection I decided to give it a shot! I saw them around on a few blogs I read, and the ads looked really nice.Does it work for me?
YES - this program is actually the best. You are selling actual ad space and you are not just an affiliate. The big difference, you get paid for the time the ad appears on your blog and it’s not based on sales from your site. Also, you can choose which ad to approve and if it’s an add you do not want to have on your blog, you just decline. Full control! Which is something I truly wanted! Moreover, you can modify the add and change a few things to make get it fitting to your layout!*sigh* now onto the difficult part and IÂ would like to raise one question:Â
Does this make me a bad book reviewer? Does this make me less of a blogger?
I think I heard the argument before. We do not get paid for our reviews! Nope, writing reviews should be based on our personal opinion and not tainted by the money you get. With joining Affiliate programs or selling ad space I do not think my value as a blogger drops, nor do I think it does on other blogs.
Also, those programs do not affect my personal opinion in any way. Why would they?
It is something completely else to actually get paid for reviews. And this is still ok for me as long as it is mentioned somewhere. Like Kirkus - they sell their reviewing service together with their name.
The Bookworms? We are a Book Review Blog - Â nothing more, but also nothing less! I anyway think I get compensated by the publishers because, they are giving me free books for freaking sake! Â I couldn’t be more happy than getting free books to read and talk about. Also this does not affect my personal opinion any more or any less!
So now, by monetizing my blog, I don’t and won’t monetize my reviews and my opinions! I think this must be a clear and distinkt difference which I hope I made here on the Bookworms!

The world in the Iron Druid Chronicles is enourmous and phenomenal. Kevin Haerne does not focuses on a single mythos and explores this, no, he goes beyond everything and takes every crature and mythos and put them all together! Want to meet Jesus, or an ancicent gooddess, Fairies, Vampires? You can meet all them them in this series! The variety is gigantic and simply adds tp the perfection of this series!
Atticus - Druid that will make woman swoon and mens cheer for his bad-assery!The main character the series focuses on is Atticus the only Druid that is left in our world. Describing Atticus will be hard and I try to do him justice! He’s bad ass - I mean he’s the only Druid that managed to survive! He’s hott - look at the covers and don’t tell me you are not swooning over them  and the cover model is exactly how Atticus is described in the novels. He is insanely funny, but he’s also loving and caring! In short, Atticus is the perfect hero for woman to swoon over and bad ass enough for male to cheer for him! (No idea what boys do with their hero’s - buy an action figure?) Coming one more time to the swooning and drooling part, he is covered in ancient tattoos, that keep in bound to the Earth where he draws his magic from.. *faints*Oberon - Sidekick of perfection!
If you would imagine one perfect sidekick you have to meet Oberon! And to be clear, Oberon is a Hound and… Atticus trained him to talk with him in his head. He.Is.Awesome! He’s the funniest sidekick ever and he will make you burst out laughing so be warned! I am promising you that you will fall in love with this dog! Plus, he’s also deeply loyal to Atticus and would do anything to protect him… gosh you gonna love this hound…
Witty and downright hilariousThe humor is definitely one of the best parts about this series. Be prepared for the best quotes you will ever encounter! I laughed to loud so many times - reading this series will simply make you happy! Atticus has a dry humor and he offers them freely in every situation, even the dire deadly one! Together with Oberon, he’s unbeatable!âNow go and stake some vamps. Especially the sparkly emo ones.â Hammered, Book 3âThe tendency of modern American women to exclaim ‘Hiiiiiiiiiiii!’ in soprano octaves and hug each other upon sight can be disconcerting to those unfamiliar with it.â Hexed, Book 2âWhoa. Love - or the lack thereof!With me being me, I have to say a few words about love and romance. There is not much, there are always little small innuendo’s but there is no bog glowing romance in this series. It makes me sad, but knowing me and the fact that I still give this series a full raving review and rating should tell you how epically awesome this series is. However, looking at the cover of the upcoming book 5 “Trapped” there is a girl on the cover. Dare I to hope for romance? Anyhow, the readers knows who is the girl on the cover: It’s Granuaile the girl he meets in book 1 Hounded and who became his apprentice. There was some tension between them in book 4 Tricked which I hope will explored more! However, this is not a romance story and love in any case will only play a small part of this story. This lack however, does nothing to my utter enjoyment of these book!

The Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne rocks big time and has everything from witty dialogues,awesome storylines up to epic characters that kick ass!  The Iron Druid Chronicles is one of the best series for both male and female with Urban fantasy and supernatural elements combined in a utterly unique and refreshing way. Woman will fall for Atticus and men will admire his bad-assery - together with the incredible humor in the series, this is a must-read. Period. Each books has a mystery to solve but there is a transporting and underlying storyline that glues all the books together!

He not only gave Atticus the perfect voice, but gave Oberon the best voice ever!! If he wouldn’t be already so incredible funny, Luke Daniels would do the job for him. Considering that I often listen to audio’s in public, I know get the funniest look when laughing out lout, or trying to surpress a giggle!

Yesterday was June 15 - which means mid of the month and mid of the year! So I decided I would to a quick Top 10 Reads of 2012 for the first half the year!

Staling Parker is the next book from Miranda Kenneally and it is as awesome if not better. (Was a tough decision between those two books…)

Glimpses of a Previous Life?
Truly, who doesn’t think that the idea of having lived before isn’t extremely fascinating and gives room for a phenomenal romance? The concept in Transcendence is very unqique as there are few people that are actually aware of their previous lifes which is an interesting idea. Imagine meeting a 17 year old boy who has lived already countless of previous lives and processes the knowledge of so many lifetimes? Seems like a very wise young boy… However, not all know about the other lifes right away, some just “become” Akhet meaning they have to learn painfully that they have lived before and get glimpses of past lives which of course leaves them utterly confused at first …Cole - a new Akhet
Cole is a pretty normal, not excitingly outstanding girl who is one of those that learn rather late that she has actually lived before. She get’s glimpses of her previous lifes which leaves her utterly confusing, being afraid she looses her mind. It’s when she meets Griffon she begins to understand…. As mentioned before, Cole was rather plain and truth to be told she had sometimes a pretty annoying attitude. I couldn’t fall for her completely and connecting with her was rather hard to accomplish…Griffon - the boy who lived .. before
Griffon was a very interesting character, especially when we learn about his past. And although the concept of old souls in your bodies is nothing new (take all supernatural creatures here… ) it was harder to grasp here. It felt weird that he would fall for such a young girl with no experience of this world whatsoever. Maybe that was the appeal? The Romance was sweet but the butterflies were missing. However, Griffon was very likely my most favo character apart from Cole’s best friend who was fan freakingtastic!! ;)An old Grudge and a Mystery
One part of the story was a mystery Cole had to solve together with Griffon’s help. This was a nice addition to the learning process of Cole’s new role in the world and I enjoyed this part quote a bit!Bewitched Rating
Bottom Line
Transcendence was a quick read with a deeply fascinating concept or reincarnation. The mythology was intriguing and left enough room to wish for more. However, Cole as a main character didn’t excite me too much and the romance lacked the necessary sparks. Despite the problems I had with the story, it was still a enjoyable read! Tell me, would you like to know you have lived before? Even processing all the knowledge from the previous lifes? Or would you rather not know ?Much Love, -
